GLP-1 Protein Calculator

When appetite is low, muscle is easy to lose along with fat. Enter your height and weight to see a daily protein target and how to fit it into smaller meals.

How we got it

1.2 to 1.6 g of protein per kg of body weight a day, kept within 80 to 120 g, rounded to 5 g. With a BMI of 30 or more we use an adjusted weight (ideal weight plus 40% of the difference), because total weight overstates muscle. Split into 4 smaller portions because large meals are harder to finish when appetite is low.

Questions

Why does protein matter when appetite is low?

When you eat much less, the body can use muscle as well as fat. Enough protein and regular strength training help keep the muscle, so more of what you lose is fat.

What if I cannot finish a full meal?

Eat protein first, then the rest. Smaller portions more often, and drinks or yogurts with protein, make the target easier to reach.

Is this medical advice?
