BMR Calculator
Your BMR (basal metabolic rate) is the energy your body uses at complete rest, just to keep you alive. Enter four numbers to see it, and what you burn on a normal day.
How we got it
Mifflin-St Jeor: 10 x weight in kg + 6.25 x height in cm - 5 x age, +5 for men, -161 for women, -78 for the average formula. It is the most accurate of the common BMR formulas for most adults, within about 10%. Daily totals multiply your BMR by 1.2 (mostly sitting) up to 1.9 (physical job plus training), rounded to 50.

Questions
What is the difference between BMR and TDEE?
BMR is what you burn at complete rest. TDEE adds everything you do in a day, so it is usually 1.2 to 1.7 times your BMR.
Should I eat less than my BMR to lose weight?
No. Eating below your BMR makes it harder to keep muscle and stick to the plan. Create the deficit from your TDEE instead.
Can I raise my BMR?
Muscle burns a little more than fat, so strength training nudges it up over time. Age and body size matter more.
